Getting into something like yoga can be incredibly hard when you live somewhere that doesn’t have any classes on offer. This is as much a social activity as it is an exercise for a lot of people, and this makes it crucial that you’re able to do it with others. Starting your own yoga club can be a good way to achieve this goal, saving you the bother of traveling far and wide or replying on internet-based courses to help you out. To make this easier, this post is going to be exploring all of the little things you’ll need to start your own yoga club.
Before you organize anything for your yoga club, it will make sense to look for some potential members. You can start with your friends with this, giving you an easy place to begin recruitment. They should tell their friends about the new club, and this will make it grow to a good size nice and quickly. If you’re struggling to get members, posting and sharing your idea on websites like Facebook will be a good idea. Having just a handful of people will be enough, though the more you have the better the whole thing will feel.
Most people who are interested in yoga will already have the basic equipment they need to get through a session. This doesn’t mean that everyone will be in this position, though, and it will be a good idea to make your club inclusive and accessible from the very beginning. Having some spare pilates mats, foam rollers, and the other gear you use will make it much easier to accommodate everyone when they visit for the first time. Of course, though, it will be fair enough to ask people to provide their own once they’ve been with you for a week or two, as this will show that they’re serious and want to continue as members of your club.
While you won’t be selling this sort of club as classes, it will make sense to have someone leading each session, and you could be the perfect candidate for this. If you’ve already done yoga in the past, you will probably have a good idea of what you will need to do to get people started. If not, though, it will be time to start watching YouTube videos to learn about the different positions you’d like your group to try. Going through this process will ensure that each session moves along smoothly. As time goes on, you could invite other members of the club to run sessions, especially if they have more experience than you.
With all of this in mind, you should be feeling ready to start your own yoga club. This sort of activity can be very fun, giving you the chance to make your exercise into something far more social. Of course, though, it will still take plenty of work along the way, and you’ll need to apply yourself the make the best of it.
